GJump tape's primary purpose is to relieve pain by activating the body's natural analgesic system, often referred to as the Gate Control Theory.[1, 2] It is also designed to reduce localized swelling by gently lifting the skin to improve lymphatic drainage. The tape provides essential support and stability to muscles and joints, correcting function and promoting circulation without restricting the full range of motion.[3] It is suitable for sports protection, injury rehabilitation, and general daily health care.[4]
Premature peeling usually results from poor application technique and insufficient adhesive activation. To ensure maximum wear, you must first clean the skin thoroughly with rubbing alcohol to remove oil, sweat, and lotions.[5] It is crucial to apply the tape one hour prior to exercise or heavy sweating, allowing the waterproof adhesive sufficient time to cure [5, 6]; and vigorously rubbing the tape after application is required to generate heat and fully activate the adhesive bond.[5, 7]
GJump tape is constructed from soft, breathable cotton fibers with elastic stretch, designed to mimic the thickness and elasticity of human skin.[8, 4] It is backed by a strong, waterproof, medical-grade acrylic adhesive.[4] GJump is sold in convenient precut strips (typically 40-count) to simplify quick application and provides consistent, rounded corners, a feature known to maximize wear time by preventing snagging and fraying.[4, 9]
GJump is manufactured with a strong, waterproof adhesive designed to endure heavy sweat, showering, and swimming.[4] When properly applied to clean skin and activated, the tape is engineered to be worn comfortably and effectively for continuous therapeutic benefits over three to five days.[10, 11]
To minimize the risk of skin irritation, first, perform an allergy test by applying a small piece of tape to a non-sensitive area like the inner wrist before full use. Avoid over-stretching the tape during application, as excessive tension is a common cause of skin discomfort.[5, 9] It is recommended to limit continuous application to no more than 24 hours, and shorten this duration to 12 hours if you have sensitive skin. If itching, burning, or severe redness occurs, remove the tape immediately.
Because the waterproof adhesive is designed to be strong, always remove the tape gently and slowly to minimize discomfort. You can use warm water (ideally while showering) or baby oil/adhesive remover on the edges to help slowly dissolve the glue.[5] Gently peel the strip back along the direction of hair growth, keeping the movement slow and parallel to the skin.[5]
Clinical research provides strong support for using kinesiology taping in targeted applications, particularly for pain relief in specific musculoskeletal conditions. Studies show the tape can effectively relieve pain associated with issues like Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome (Runner's Knee).[12] The therapeutic mechanism involves stimulating cutaneous receptors in the skin to modulate pain signals and microscopically lifting the skin to improve localized circulation.[13, 14] Low tension, typically around 25% of the tape’s maximum stretch, is often found to be the optimal tension for effective pressure-evoked pain reduction.[15]
